Who we are

INDIEGA.ME is the independent game studio of Romain Simon. The website and the games are published by Yuki Capital, a SASU (simplified joint-stock company) registered in France, which is the data controller. For any privacy question or request, write to [email protected].

The website (indiega.me)

  • No account and no cookies. The site has no sign-in and sets no cookies.
  • Audience statistics. We count page views with our own self-hosted Plausible Analytics (stats.yukicapital.com). It uses no cookies and stores no IP address or personal identifier: it only gives us aggregated figures such as visits per page, referrer, country and device type. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful.
  • Preferences in your browser. If you pick a light or dark theme, or a language on the blog, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage (keys theme and lang). It never leaves your device; clear your site data to remove it.
  • Videos. Trailers are embedded with YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and load only when you click play; some trailer thumbnails are fetched from YouTube's image server. Once you play a video, Google processes data under its own privacy policy.
  • Hosting. The site runs on our own servers behind Cloudflare, our network provider. Like any web service, they may keep short technical logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and troubleshooting.
  • External links. Links to Steam, the Meta Horizon Store, YouTube or X take you to services with their own policies.

Browser games

Our browser games (such as Slingshot, France Simulator, SpaceSim, Launch, Eclats, Please Open Me, Paperclip, Outer Horizons: Planetfall and Reclamation Day) need no account. Your progress and settings are saved locally in your browser (local storage) and are not sent to us; clearing your browser's site data erases them. Some games also count anonymous, cookieless usage events with the same self-hosted Plausible Analytics, to see which parts are played. The Steam version of Slingshot is distributed by Valve, which processes your Steam account data under its own policy.

VR Phobia

VR Phobia: Birds is a virtual reality app for Meta Quest. Its full policy is below and also on its own page, indiega.me/vr-phobia/privacy .

In short

  • VR Phobia works fully offline. There is no account, and the app never asks for your name, e-mail, age or location.
  • Your progress, journal and settings are stored only on your headset and are never sent to us.
  • Anonymous usage statistics are sent only if you say yes. You can say no, or change your mind at any time in Settings; the app works exactly the same.
  • No ads, no tracking cookies, no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we never sell or share your data.

This section applies to VR Phobia: Birds on Meta Quest (and on PC VR when that version ships), and to the other VR Phobia apps when they are released. The controller is Yuki Capital (SASU, France), which publishes the app under the name INDIEGA.ME. Contact: [email protected].

Data stored on your headset

To suggest your next level and show your progress, the app keeps a journal in its private storage on the headset. For each person using the headset it holds:

  • the levels played, when and for how long, whether they were completed, and your use of the safe place;
  • your optional answers, such as "How did it feel?" and the weekly real-life check;
  • milestones, the practice plan you chose, and your settings (language, seated mode, comfort options);
  • a profile with an optional first name (up to 12 characters) and a picture, when several people share the headset.

This journal never leaves the headset. In accompanied mode you can export it yourself (CSV or JSON) and decide what to do with the file. First names and profile pictures stay on the headset and are never sent anywhere.

Optional anonymous usage statistics

When. On first launch, a card asks whether you agree to share anonymous usage statistics. Nothing is sent before you say yes. You can switch them off at any time in Settings › Anonymous stats.

Why. To understand how the program is used and improve it: which levels feel too hard, where people stop, and whether the pacing works. We only read them as overall trends.

What is sent. Only events from a fixed list, each with a few values from short fixed lists of categories. There is never any free text.

Event Values sent
Consent given, first launch, tutorial done, plan completed, weekly check postponedNone
Plan chosenThe plan and the time of day chosen
Session startLevel, bird species, place, number of profiles on the headset as a range (1, 2, 3–5, 6+)
Level endLevel, result (done, stopped, safe place), feeling in 4 categories, duration as a range
Safe place usedLevel, duration as a range
Weekly real-life checkOne of 4 answers
Fear ladderFilled in or skipped, and when it was asked (never the ratings)
Weekly pointStep reached (0 to 10) and week number
Streak, free exploration, world started, interactionDays as a range; place and duration as a range; world and step; the kind of item thrown

Every event also carries a random installation identifier created on your headset, the app version, the platform (Quest, PC VR or PC) and the app language. The identifier is not derived from your Meta or Steam account, your headset serial number or anything else about you.

Never sent: names, profile pictures, your participant code, free text, your account, your headset model or serial number, contacts or location.

Health-related data and legal basis. Your "How did it feel?" category and real-life check can count as data about health under the GDPR (Article 9). We process statistics only with your explicit consent (GDPR Articles 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a)), given on the consent card and withdrawable at any time, as easily as it was given.

Where. Events are sent over HTTPS to our own self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics (open-source software) at stats.yukicapital.com, on infrastructure we run. Requests pass through Cloudflare, our network provider. No other party receives the statistics. Plausible does not store IP addresses.

How long. Statistics are kept for at most 24 months, then deleted. Aggregated figures that no longer relate to any installation may be kept longer.

Research data: switched off

The app contains a separate, optional research channel (one pseudonymous record per level played, to improve the levels). In the current version it is switched off: the app never asks about it and sends nothing. If we ever switch it on, it will ask each person separately for explicit consent, with its own controls to stop and to delete, and this policy will be updated first.

Store platforms

When you buy or install the app through the Meta Horizon Store (or Steam, for PC VR), Meta or Valve process your account and purchase data under their own privacy policies. On Meta Quest, the store version asks Meta's platform service to confirm that your account owns the app; the app receives only a yes or no answer and stores nothing about it. We never receive your store identity.

Your choices, and how to delete your data

  • Withdraw consent: switch off Settings › Anonymous stats. Sending stops at once and events still waiting on the headset are deleted.
  • Delete data on the headset: delete a profile in Settings › Profiles (asked twice: its journal and backups are erased), or uninstall the app to remove everything.
  • Delete statistics already sent: they carry only a random installation identifier that the app never shows and that we cannot connect to you. Switching statistics off makes the app replace that identifier, which cuts any remaining link between your headset and what was sent. Because we hold no name, account or device detail, we cannot single out your events from an e-mail; they are deleted automatically at the end of the retention period. You can still write to us at [email protected] with any request or question.
  • Deletion and every request are free of charge, for every user, wherever you live.
  • Under the GDPR you also have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. We answer within one month. You can complain to your data-protection authority (in France: the CNIL, cnil.fr).

Children

VR Phobia is designed for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has sent statistics, contact us and we will help.

Security and changes

Statistics are sent over HTTPS to an access-restricted server. Local data stays in the app's private storage. If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date; anything new sent by the app will need your consent again.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, to object to its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Requests are free and we answer within one month. Because we keep almost no personal data, many requests are answered by the controls described above (clearing browser data, switching statistics off, deleting a VR Phobia profile). You can also complain to your data-protection authority; in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
